A man stands on the end of a pier with his suitcase ready to escape to a new life. But what has he packed into his case? What could he not bear to leave behind regardless of the cost?

Can familial bonds be kept in place when all around they are being torn apart?

SEAHORSE is a promenade performance piece that utilises non-traditional theatre spaces, challenging our relationship to our surroundings, with the aim to draw focus upon familial bonds, cherished memories and our emotional attachment to what we call home. We face an uncertain global position where geographical boundaries, political and religious differences, environmental crisis, displacement and migration are challenged, redefined and exaggerated – at great cost to human dignity.

The action follows a man’s attempt to embark on a journey with his son. The audience are invited on an immersive journey placing them outside a traditionally recognised theatre space enhancing their own feelings of displacement which are echoed within the piece. The narrative guides the audience through the walkways and public spaces of The Lowry with various stopping points at which sections of the action take place.
